How we create health content
Medical Editorial Policy
Health information on this website is written for parents and based on trusted sources.
How our health information is written
The health guidance on this website is general information based on the sources below, and each page links to the specific pages it draws on. We don't publish longer parent health articles until Dr. Irina Ilyayeva, MD, has reviewed them. Medical reviewer: Dr. Irina Ilyayeva, MD, board-certified pediatrician, reviews the health information on this website periodically and when guidelines change.
Sources we use
We base our guidance on current recommendations from:
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and HealthyChildren.org
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- National Institutes of Health and MedlinePlus
- New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)
- NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health)
Dates
Each page shows when it was last updated. We update practice information, such as hours and insurance, when it changes.
Our standards
- We write in plain language and separate general information from individual medical advice.
- We don't diagnose online, and we don't publish medicine doses for parents to work out on their own.
- For higher-risk topics, such as infant fever, breathing problems, dehydration, medicines, vaccines and mental health, we stay close to the source guidance and link to it.
- We review content when guidelines change.
Not a substitute for care
Information on this website is general and is not medical advice for your child. Call the office with questions about your child. In an emergency, call 911.
